Week Ten The End

Thank you for organizing this training program, I would never have created a web log on my own. On my Google homepage I am constantly trying out new tools, so I had some knowledge about many of the exercises I attempted to accomplish. I truly enjoyed the Flickr and animoto exercises.

Finding time and and making myself do the exercises sometimes proved challenging. I have to admit I was perturbed when someone chose the same blog title as mine. I am not so naive that I thought my title unique, I just chose a favorite song by a little old band from Liverpool.

Library 2.0 will continue to help us keep pace with the patrons' needs. Aquabrowser will be a welcome upgrade to the catalog search and I look forward to the training.

Week Nine

I have had an iTunes account for a couple of years, and my shuffle is usually close at hand.

The podcast task was time consuming to filter through the massive number of podcasts. Quite a few of the ones I looked at seemed to be short lived. I subscribed to a podcast for the Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale MS, quite an interesting piece of blues history.

I uploaded a you tube video of speed painter Dan Dunn painting to "A Day In The Life" by the Beatles.

I explored HCPL'S ever growing digital catalog site and tried a download. I also looked through the titles listed in LibriVox, it is good to know that some of the classics are available for all the students with last minute assignments.

What a blast! I could do this all day!

Week Eight

I have been in and around Myspace, Dogster, Catster and Facebook and am very familiar with them. It is important to me that they can be as public or private as you like. I wonder if this is replacing face to face for many users.

I had already played around in Google documents when it was introduced. I set up an account in Zoho writer. This tool will be ideal to use when working on genealogy projects with distant family members

Donations

I was impressed by the Charity Navigator site that rated some of my favorite charities. Perhaps those of you who make donations in this way, may find it useful.
